Higher Apprenticeships
A Higher Apprenticeship is created by combining a Vocational Qualification and a College based technical certificate.
In regards to the Mineral Products industry this is outlined below:
- MPQC SHE QCF Level 4 Vocational Qualification.
- HNC undertaken through a University.
This qualification is aimed at 18+ year olds who want a career in the Mineral Products/Extractives industry. Entry to the course is two A levels at Levels A to C (or equivalent). You must also be employed by a company to progress the Apprenticeship.
Year One
The first year covers generic content:
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Introduction to Mineral Products Technology
Year Two
In year two Apprentices can elect to join a specific pathway. These include extractives, asphalt, cement, concrete and clay.
- First Line Supervisory Management Work Based Study Technical Module
A progression route exists all the way to a BSc in Minerals Management.
